Musha wevana Children's Home visit 2016

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who helped us make a difference. We are going to visit our second home Jairos Jiri in the last weekend of holiday. Here is an update on what took place at Mushawevana.

At Musha Wevana Children's Home we were greated by Ms Kaseke, the phenomenal lady running this Home.
We got a brief outline of the home and how it operates and here were our findings.

Musha Wevana Children's Home contains four main buildings called family units in which the population of children is divided into 4 groups. Each group has a matron "mother" in charge of monitoring it 24hrs a day.
The kids enjoy 3 meals a day that is breakfast, lunch and supper and we were happy the groceries we took there could help.

In terms of education, each child is enrolled at an academic institution within the vicinity of the home.
These include :

R.G. Mugabe Primary School
Nyameni Primary & Secondary School
Cheritombo
Neagle House
Marondera high School

When it comes to fees, back in the day, fees came in the form of grants from Social Welfare but was only accessible to promising and committed children.
Those who were not very committed had their school financed by well wishers.Recently an organization known as Help One Now has come in and is paying for every child's fees, uniforms and stationery.

How do children end up in this home?
Well Musha Wevana Children's Home accommodates children with different backgrounds including abandoned or abuses which include physical, sexual or emotional. If a child is identified by the community he/she is sent to the police. The police then take the child to a hospital for a medical check up and if the child is not claimed by a relative within 24hrs he/she is sent to a home.
The home accepts children from 1 day old to 18 years old as per government conditions but if a child is still furthering his or her studies they can keep the child till he or she is 21.Those who are more ino practicals are sent for vocational training at Mt Hill where their skills in crafts are groomed.

The home is proud to have graduates with one actually a lecturer at Chinhoyi University and have set an example to the rest of the kids.If a child successfully finishes a course, the home assists in finding them a job as they work hand in hand with firms such as OK and Edgars and local business owners. Special mention goes to Theo who was the young man with the best overall character and quite an exemplary behavior.

To get the ball rolling we had some music and dance with the kids.We also did a very complicated yet seriously entertaining game led by Elisha (let the children play )
We had generous photo shoots with the kids and I'm sure everyone present made a new friend. The kids also received a motivational lecture about life from Jayden (Youth wold changers).

Lastly we handed over the gifts we came with to Ms Kaseke said a few parting words, took a few parting photos, had brief parting conversations.

They say the joys of giving far outweigh those of receiving. Whoever said that, did not lie.....

Please continue to help us help those in need.

Wings of Grace Orphanage home

In April 2015 we had the opportunity to spend time at the Wings of Grace Orphanage in MUFAKOSE. This is a place run by Mrs Gwanzura who started taking care of the first children in 1987 and now has over 40 of them. We were happy to have spent the day there sharing our musical talents. If you think you can help Mrs Gwanzura in any way possible please please get in touch because the current situation is getting heavier by the day.

Aware trust campaign

Much of our wildlife is disappearing day by day because of greed. As let the children play we stand proudly together with Aware trust saying NO TO POACHING. It was an honour to use our talents for a worthy cause!

Chinyaradzo Children's Home

Our participant's very first visit was to Chinyaradzo children's homes (April 2013) in Harare the capital city of Zimbabwe. On this day we had a lot of singing, dancing and playing going on, but this was not all. With the help of our parents each student kindly brought clothes, sanitary wear, food and coloring books, happily handing them over to the matrons and had a chance to play and interact with the other children. The students had an opportunity to visit the dormitories of the orphanage and listened to some of the background stories some even bringing tears to ours eyes.

By getting involved in the various discussions and activities conducted by our host the meaning of giving  and caring changed for many of our young participants as some of the heroic actions taken by the matrons seemed to them to be only in movies. After that we had a coloring session closing the day with a mini concert also having the children join us on the dance floor and singing. The cheers, giggles and smiles cannot be replaced by anything else.

We would like to thank God for our Parents, the matrons and staff of Chinyaradzo children's home and all who had a hand in making this a memorable and worthwhile visit for our students.
